Instead Softcup Starter Kit Giveaway!
Up until two weeks ago, I’ve never heard of the term “menstrual cups”. The words conjured up all kinds of weird images of what I imagined them to be, so I went looking for more information. I discovered a world unbeknownst to me. Alternative menstrual products that have been around for quite some time! I stumbled onto the Softcup website and was intrigued by the information presented. Softcup was wonderful to give me a kit to preview and try. After my experience with it, pads and tampons will no longer have a predominate involvement in my cycle!
I’m trying not to overly gush about this product, but it really seems to have it all, in terms of making a positive impact on a woman’s experience with her cycle. Up until now, I preferred tampons because they are the closest to being “free”, but I’ve always had concerns with TSS and leakage. With the Soft cup, I would practically forget I was on my period.
WHAT IS SOFTCUP?
Soft cup is a flexible “cup” that is worn internally around your cervix. It collects, as opposed to absorbs fluid. It is hypo-allergenic and latex-free. It has no strings and can be worn for 12 hours straight.
STATED BENEFITS
I had no problems inserting the cup. The instructions provided were clear and concise. However, I use naturally family planning as method of birth control, this affords me some ease to use the product without difficulty, I believe. I found the use of it very comfortable! As I mentioned earlier, I practically forgot I was on my period! I did not leak at night as I typically do, wearing tampons/pads. I was able to shower with it. What was very noticeable to me, my cramping was a LOT less severe during my cycle. I’m not going to go in detail, but lets just say my hubby was happy that I found Softcup :) Removing it was easy, but I did find it to be a tad messy. The instructions explain that you need to keep the cup level when removing it. I had to figure out what “level” meant. I did leak a bit when I sit on my tailbone, with my hip jutted forward. This is a habit of mine, and I found sitting this way dislodged it a bit as if I was positioned to insert the cup. This could very well force me to sit the way everyone sits! It was a small blip in such a fantastic experience. I introduced my teen to it and she LOVES it as well!
MORE ABOUT SOFTCUP
Soft cup has not had a reported incident of TSS. Toxic Shock Syndrome is believed to be related to tampon absorbency. Studies suggest the higher the absorbency, the higher the risk of TSS. Because Soft cup is non absorbent, it does not change the level of bacteria present in body. Soft cup has no pesticides, dioxins, carcinogens, polycarbonates, BPA, PVC, and Phthalates. Soft cups do not change a woman’s pH levels and is considered a viable solution to maintaining pH balance. Soft cup is also FDA approved. The Softcup is not recyclable. It must be thrown away. Given that it is used longer, you definitely use less product in comparison to tampons and pads.
