"(Dec. 15) -- A Chilean Olympic weightlifter who didn't realize she was pregnant got quite a surprise when she went into labor and gave birth during a training session." www.sphere.com
I simply cannot imagine being unaware of your own pregnancy, however it has been known to happen. My short stature has made all of my pregnancies (except my 1st one) very obvious. And because I use natural family planning methods, I would know an impending pregnancy before it actually happened!
Weightlifting can be strenuous on a woman's body. Affecting the balance of hormones that makes for a smooth continuous cycle, that would be especially true if steroids were taken.
Elizabeth Poblete, the Chilean weightlifter, competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Her son was born three months premature at 2lbs and 14 inches long. Who knows maybe we'll see her profiled on TLC's "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant!"
