Benefits of Sea Salt in Natural Oral Care–Certified #Organic, Alcohol-Free Breath Spray Giveaway
Would it surprise you to know that salt is essential to life? One can not live without it. Why then, do doctors, nutritionists, dietitians and studies generally recommend a reduced salt intake or eliminate it completely from your diet?
Salt – Processed vs. Raw
An essential component that fails to apply to recommendations against and analysis of salt, is the toxic difference between processed salt and raw salt. Salt that has been processed is heated to the excess of a thousand degrees and its “impurities” removed, which are essential trace minerals, important counter elements that balance the aggressive sodium chloride. Processed salt, also known as table salt, may include anti-caking agents, fluoride or synthetic iodine. Processed salt should be avoided always, in all ways. Raw, unprocessed salt such as Celtic, Pink Salt or any raw unprocessed salt contains a balanced spectrum of minerals that have health benefits of various sorts.
History’s Testimony of the Value of Salt
The history of salt tells of the high regard our ancestors held in esteem of salt. Salt’s ability to preserve food was considered a foundation of civilization, which allowed food travel over long distances. Cultivating salt was difficult, thus salt became a form of currency because it was rare. As a matter of fact the Greek word, Salary, is derived from the word salt. Phrases such as “worth his salt” stemmed from this perception of salt as valuable. Salt is also used as a metaphor in the Bible. In Matthew 5:13 Jesus said to his disciples…
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Salt in Oral Care
Raw salt & water can restrict bacterial growth and balance the pH levels in the mouth. Salt water can be isotonic to mucous membranes in the mouth as well. Sole, a concentrated solution of Pink Himalayan Salt and spring water is my favorite version (in my opinion the best version) of salt water. I gargle with it for sore throats, toothaches and to neutralize the mouth or eliminate bad breath.
